Mundane Journeys was a public art hotline established in 2001 by the artist Kate Pocrass to call attention to easily overlooked, everyday details. The 8 year project developed into two books, various posters, self-navigating audio tours and guided bus expeditions.
The hotline was unplugged in 2009 to make way for new uses of the much-loved 415-364-1465. Invited artists will take over the number for a yearly residency. Pick up your phone and dial for the current project. A mostly-full audio archive is available on this website. Some week's Journeys have been gone unrecorded over the years. If found, they will be uploaded to the archive.
A new Mundane-fueled collection of travel journals are hitting the shelves. I Was Here, a travel journal for the curious minded is currently available & Side Walks, a journal for exploring your city will be released in Spring 2012.
